South African prepaid mobile data questions
These answers describe the prepaid bundles in the mobile comparison. Cell C and Rain are not listed.
How are the mobile networks ranked?
Each network is ranked by the lowest rand per counted gigabyte among published bundles that cover the daytime data you select. A larger bundle can rank first when that rate is lower, even if its total price is higher. You still pay for the whole bundle.
Does night data count toward the gigabytes?
Only when you turn on “Count night and extra data”. Left off, the rank uses anytime data only. Night Express, Night Owl, and other extra gigabytes are then named in what the price leaves out.
Why are some bundles marked as app-only?
Vodacom publishes some prices only in the VodaPay app. Those bundles stay in the rank, and the card says they are sold only in that app.
Why are Cell C and Rain not listed?
On 29 October 2026 their public pages did not show a current standard prepaid bundle menu. They stay off the list until an official menu is readable.
